Back2Basics Season Opener 4/6/2019

Updated: Jan 28, 2022

Car Show season is here! Finally, after the holidays and the freezing cold of winter, we are finally back into the full swing of the Car Scene. Some of us kicked off the season at Import Alliance in Atlanta, but here in the Upstate of South Carolina we kicked it off with the one and only "Back 2 Basics" put on by our very good friends at Misperception, a local car club that is very well known around here, at Anderson Motor Speedway. Mario, Philip, and the rest of Misperception put on one heck of an event to kick the season off with! We absolutely love being a vendor at any of their events and love being able to call this group family.

We arrived at AMS right at two o'clock ready to roll in and get set up. After we figured out the order of our cars we began setting up the table, popping up our awning, and feeling that level of excitement that we had been waiting all winter for. We started off this season with some new merchandise, such as shirts and lanyards, and had a great deal of success with them at this season opener. We will definitely be keeping those items in rotation.

We have to give a huge shoutout to all of the other vendors that were in attendance alongside us. These guys are some of the best around and we love being able to come together at B2B and have a great time. Avenue Performance showed up always giving us their best support and a wonderful display what we believe to be the sweetest steering wheels on the market. Powershift Inc. came out and sold some awesome merch, such as backpacks, shirts, hoodies, stickers, keychains, and so much more. They've been very close partners of ours for quite some time now, and we always love when they make the trip down from Raleigh to party with us. Any Back 2 Basics event wouldn't be right without the wonder twins over at Moody Blue Designs with some incredible rides showing off just how astounding their wrapping abilities truly is. These guys are like family to us and wonderful dudes who put out even better work when it comes to your vehicle wrap and graphic design needs. Precision Wraps is another company that came out and boy did they come out strong! Truly putting out some great work and we love some of the awesome designs they kicked out just in time for this show. Carolina Stance Shop made their debut at this event. These guys can do just about anything you can imagine. Whether you want to track your car, dial in your fitment on some Work wheels, or slam it to the ground with an AirLift Performance system. Whatever you're after, they can definitely get you set up and ready for the next show or track day. There are so many more vendors that came out with us that we could talk about them forever and take up this entire blog! We love that this event has so much support and we will continue to support it as much as we possibly can as well.

After the mob of cars finally got through the gate and parked on the track, we began the festivities. Tug of War kicked off the night between vendors and local car clubs. Low Car Limbo was after that, and yes it is exactly what you think it is. We watched as the limbo bar got lower and lower. If your car wasn't a complete custom build, fully aired out or covered in twenty people covering every body panel then you weren't ready for this. The legendary two-step competition followed and if you have sensitive ears, this was how you teach them to take the pain and experience the loud popping, fire spitting, high revving action coming out of these rides. We ended the night with some good ol' fashion burnouts. What better way to end the night than the smell of burnt rubber!

There were a few uncontrollable issues that occurred at B2B. A few attendees in their trucks decided that it would be a good idea to drive around, revving their engines, and yell at people. Another person who came to the event managed to create quite an uproar which ended with him literally being chased out of the Speedway. The details are neither here nor there, but simply put, if you were there then you know how crazy it got. You also know how hard Misperception will work to make sure incidents like that will not happen again.

We have to give it up for the team at Misperception. This crew is truly passionate about the event and anything that they are a part of. It truly is incredible how hard these guys push, especially Mario and Philip, to put on such an event. Guys, we don't know where we'd be without you and we love being able to come out, have a good time, and enjoy a great show. This was a fantastic show, and we have no doubt that the next one will be even better. We can't wait for the next one!
